The PBA Commissioner’s Cup 2013 has been exciting so far, and the Alaska Aces are now enjoying full excitement as they lead the league in team standings, and they are closely followed by the Petron Blaze Boosters.
The Alaska Aces faced the Barako Bull Energy Colas last February 17 on a battle for the number one spot early in this conference. Both teams had a strong start but the Energy Colas found themselves to be trailing at the end of the first half 42-36. However, they regrouped themselves and caught up, even lead by the end of the third quarter, 59-60. The Aces then dominated the fourth quarter and won the game 77-73 through the efforts of their import Robert Dozier with 19 points.
The Petron Blaze Boosters, on the other hand, after an upset to GlobalPort Batang Pier in their very first game, survives the battle against the Meralco Bolts and now on 3-game winning streak. The Boosters were up by as much as 22 in that game but was held scoreless for 8 minutes in the fourth quarter. The Bolts were only down by 2 points but the Boosters gained a four point lead as Marcio Lassiter was sent to the free throw line via a questionable foul called on Vic Manuel with 31 seconds remaining. The Petron Blaze Boosters wins the game 88-86.
