The Barangay Ginebra San Miguel Kings and the SanMig Coffee Mixers notches their first win in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup 2013.
The Commissioner’s Cup defending champions SanMig Coffee Mixers listed their first win of this conference on their match against last year’s finals contender Talk N’ Text Tropang Texters. Denzel Bowles came back as the monster import with 29 points, 23 rebounds, and 3 blocks to help the Mixers finally break their slumber. It was mostly team effort that lifted the SMC team, with three more players having double-digit scores, namely PJ Simon with 13, Marc Pingris with 12, and Joe Devance with 11. On the TNT team, local player Jayson Castro lead the scoring with 18 points, outscoring even their import Keith Benson playing silently throughout the game. The SMC Mixers won the game against TNT Tropang Texters 90-82.
The Barangay Ginebra San Miguel Kings also nailed their first win after defeating powerhouse team Barako Bull Energy Colas. The Kings poured all their frustrations on the Energy Colas, leading by as much as 28 points by playing solid defense. Mark Caguioa, scoring 23 points, and the rest of the Ginebra team played their A-game with the aid of their new import Vernon Macklin with 21 points and 14 rebounds. The three-pointer heroics of Energy Colas Danny Seigle and Mark Macapagal are nowhere to be found on the game, scored only 6 and 3 respectively. Josh Urbiztondo and import Evan Brock were tied at 16 points at the end of the game. The Barangay Ginebra San Miguel Kings finished off with a win to their name 93-72.
