Commissioner’s Cup champions Alaska Aces is yet to play, but the PBA action has been turned on already on the 2013 Governors’ Cup.
Ato Agustin had his debut game with Barangay Ginebra San Miguel against the former team he coached, the Petron Blaze Boosters. It wasn’t sweet for him, because he just gave coach Gee Abanilla his first win in the PBA. The Boosters had successfully bounced back from an upset against Meralco Bolts, beating Ginebra with a strong finish in the fourth quarter, 101-95. Elijah Millsap paced the Boosters with 24 points, and reinforced by Marcio Lassiter’s 23 points and Alex Cabagnot’s 18 points.
Eman Monfort, the smallest man in PBA history, contributed big for Barako Bull Energy Colas‘ win against the Meralco Bolts 90-89. Monfort, though in foul trouble early in the first half, poured out 22 points and seven to complement their import Mike Singletary’s performance of 28 points and 14 rebounds. Meralco’s import Mario West scored the game-high 33 points, but they came off short against Barako Bull.
